Facebook Page bio for an online shop: what to write, with examples
Your Page’s bio is one of the first things a new visitor reads, and many shops spend it on a slogan. A shop’s bio has one job: tell a stranger, in a sentence or two, what you sell, who it is for, where you deliver and how to order. Here is what to put in it, examples for common kinds of shop in English and Bangla, and the mistakes that cost orders.
The four things a shop’s bio has to say
What you sell, in the words a customer would search for: “three-pieces and kurtis”, not “ethnic elegance”. Who it is for, if that narrows it down: women, children, new mothers, people who go to the gym. Where you deliver: all over Bangladesh, inside Dhaka only, or one city. And how to order: by messaging the Page, by commenting on the post, or from your website.
If something sets you apart and is true every time, add it: cash on delivery, next-day delivery inside Dhaka, made to order, sizes up to 4XL. Leave out anything you only do sometimes. A customer who reads “next-day delivery” and waits four days writes a review about it.
Put the important words first
People read a bio at a glance, usually on a phone, so start with what you sell and finish with how to order. One or two short sentences are enough; the details belong in your posts and on your website.
Examples you can adapt
Women’s clothing: “Three-pieces, kurtis and saris in sizes 36 to 46. Delivery all over Bangladesh, cash on delivery. Message us to order.”
Men’s clothing: “Panjabis and shirts for men, sizes M to 3XL. Free size exchange within 3 days. Delivery all over Bangladesh.”
Cosmetics and skin care: “Skin care and makeup, with the batch number and expiry date in every post. Delivery all over Bangladesh. Order on Messenger.”
Home-made food: “Pickles, cakes and frozen snacks made in our kitchen in Mirpur. Delivery inside Dhaka only; order a day ahead.”
Gadgets and phone accessories: “Phone covers, chargers and earphones, each one tested before it is sent. 7-day replacement warranty. Delivery all over Bangladesh.”
Handicrafts: “Nakshi kantha and pottery made by hand by makers in Jashore. Every piece is one of a kind. Message us about the one you like.”
Children’s clothing: “Soft cotton clothes for babies and children from 0 to 10 years. Delivery all over Bangladesh. A size chart in every post.”
Books: “New and used books, sent anywhere in Bangladesh. Tell us the title and we will find it.”
In Bangla, English or both
Write the bio in the language your customers write to you in. A Bangla line followed by an English one works too. The women’s clothing example in Bangla: “থ্রি-পিস, কুর্তি আর শাড়ি, সাইজ ৩৬ থেকে ৪৬। সারা বাংলাদেশে ডেলিভারি, ক্যাশ অন ডেলিভারি। অর্ডার করতে মেসেজ দিন।”
Mistakes that cost orders
A slogan instead of a product. “Your style, your choice” could be any shop, and a visitor who cannot tell at a glance what you sell moves on.
“Inbox for price.” It makes every customer ask before they know whether they can afford it. Put the price in each post, and use the bio to say how to order.
Claims you cannot prove. “100% original”, “lowest price in Bangladesh” and “best quality” are on countless Pages, and each one invites the question of proof. Something a customer can check, like the expiry date in every post or a replacement warranty, does more.
A phone number that differs from the one in your posts, or one nobody answers. Use one number everywhere, and only give it if someone will pick it up.
Capital letters and rows of emoji. They make the bio harder to read, not easier to notice. One emoji to mark delivery or ordering is plenty.
Fill in the rest of the Page
The bio is only part of what a visitor checks. Choose the category that matches what you sell, give the same phone number as in your posts, and add a link where customers can see every product with its price. If you have a shop or a pickup point, give its address; if you do not, leave the address empty rather than giving your home.
Change it when things change
Update the bio before Eid with your last day for orders, when a new collection arrives, and when you start or stop delivering somewhere. A bio that still says “Eid orders closed” months later tells a customer nobody looks after the Page.
For the link in your bio, Sells Pilot gives the shop a free website at its own sellspilot.com address, where every product shows its price and can be ordered, and an assistant that answers your Messenger and Instagram messages from the same catalogue and takes the order.
