How much does an ecommerce website cost in Bangladesh in 2026?

· 5 min read

Ask three web agencies in Dhaka what an ecommerce website costs and you will hear three answers between ten thousand taka and three and a half lakh. They can all be honest, because they are pricing different things. Here is what each part costs, as listed on 7 October 2026 by Bangladeshi agencies, registrars and hosts, and by Shopify, WooCommerce and the theme makers on their own pages (Wix’s US price is from a named review), so you can tell a fair quote from a padded one, and decide whether you need a custom build at all.

1. What an agency build costs

Packaged ecommerce builds from Bangladeshi agencies start at about ৳10,000 to ৳12,000: WebTech lists a starter ecommerce package at ৳11,999, and listings on bdstall start from ৳10,000. The packages most small shops are offered sit between ৳25,000 and ৳50,000. ZAMAN IT, for example, lists a WordPress store at ৳25,000, Laravel at ৳35,000 and Next.js at ৳50,000, each with the domain and hosting extra.

One Bangladeshi agency’s guide, published in August 2026, puts a realistic WooCommerce build for about a hundred products at ৳50,000 to ৳1,00,000, with a payment gateway another ৳10,000 to ৳25,000 and a courier connection ৳5,000 to ৳15,000. Large custom builds and stores with an ERP run from one lakh to three and a half.

The gap between a cheap quote and an expensive one is rarely quality alone. Ask what is in it: how many products they upload for you, whether bKash and the courier are connected in the price, who fixes checkout when an update breaks it, and whether the domain and hosting are in your name or the agency’s.

2. The domain

A .com from a Bangladeshi registrar costs about ৳1,750 to ৳1,850 a year: DianaHost lists ৳1,750, and Alpha Net ৳1,795 to register and ৳1,840 to renew. Some agencies charge ৳3,000 for the same thing.

A .com.bd from BTCL has cost ৳700 a year plus VAT since a price cut in January 2026, which was reported as being for a limited period. Renewal is ৳1,020, and resellers charge more.

Register the domain in your own name, with your own email address. A domain an agency holds for you is one you will have to ask for back.

3. Hosting

Entry shared hosting from a Bangladeshi host costs about ৳1,000 to ৳2,000 a year: DianaHost from ৳999, Alpha Net from ৳1,895. A shop with a few hundred product photos needs more room, and a 5 to 10 GB plan is about ৳4,900 to ৳6,000 a year.

Cheap hosting is the usual reason a shop website is slow, and a slow page on mobile data loses the customer before the first photo appears. Hosting renews every year, so ask for the renewal price as well as the first year’s.

4. Building it yourself on WordPress

WooCommerce itself is free. A store you build yourself still needs the domain and hosting above, usually a premium theme (Flatsome is $59 once, Astra Pro $99 for the first year, then $149) and some paid extensions, which WooCommerce lists at $29 to $299 a year each. Those are paid in dollars, with a card that can pay abroad.

The real cost is time: updates, backups, security, and a checkout that has to keep working. If nobody in the shop wants that job it becomes a maintenance plan, which one Bangladeshi agency’s guide puts at ৳2,000 to ৳8,000 a month.

5. Shopify and the global builders

Shopify’s Basic plan is $29 a month billed yearly, or $39 monthly, at the prices shown in the US, and Shopify bills Bangladesh in dollars. Shopify Payments is not available in Bangladesh, so a card or wallet order through another gateway pays Shopify an extra 2% on Basic, on top of the gateway’s own charge. Cash-on-delivery orders carry no Shopify fee.

Wix cannot take orders on its free plan. Selling starts at its Core plan, which Website Builder Expert’s September 2026 review gives as $29 a month billed yearly in the US. Wix’s own plans page says prices and currency vary by location, so check the one shown to you before you pay.

6. What the first year adds up to

A template build from an agency: ৳12,000 to ৳25,000 for the build, about ৳1,750 for a .com and ৳1,000 to ৳6,000 for hosting. Roughly ৳15,000 to ৳33,000, before any maintenance.

A WooCommerce store built properly: ৳50,000 to ৳1,00,000, plus the domain, hosting, gateway and courier work, and usually a maintenance plan. ৳75,000 and up is a fair expectation.

Shopify Basic: about $348 a year billed yearly, paid in dollars, plus 2% of card and wallet orders and a theme if the free ones do not suit.

None of these includes photographing and uploading products, or answering the messages the website brings in. Those cost time every week, whichever you choose.

7. Do you need a custom website at all?

Most Facebook shops need a website for three things: a link for the Page and the Instagram bio, a place where a customer can see every product and price without asking, and somewhere to order at night when nobody is answering. A custom build is worth paying for when you need something a template cannot do, such as a very large catalogue with detailed filters, wholesale pricing, or a brand look of your own.

A Facebook Shop is not the free answer: Meta’s 2023 list of countries that could keep a shop on a Facebook or Instagram Page did not include Bangladesh. The free website builders made for Bangladeshi sellers are, and each limits something, whether products, orders or a share of every sale. Our guide to free ecommerce website builders compares those limits.

Sells Pilot includes a shop website on every plan, the free one too. It is built from the catalogue you already keep, sells from the same stock as your Messenger and Instagram inbox, and has no product limit and no commission on orders. There is no domain to buy, no hosting to renew and nothing to install.
