What do returned COD parcels really cost you?

A refused parcel costs the delivery charge, the return charge and sometimes the product. Put in your own figures and see the monthly total, and the advance that would cover one return.

Work out what returns cost you

How it is worked out

Not sure of your courier’s charges? Check them with the delivery charge calculator.

Everything happens in your browser. The figures you type are not sent to us and nothing is saved.

Before you decide on an advance

Use your own courier’s charges

Delivery and return charges differ by courier and area. Use the ones on your own invoices.

Count a month, not a bad day

Take the return rate over a whole month of orders, so one bad week does not set the advance.

Include what comes back damaged

A crushed box or a stained kurti is part of the cost of a return. Put it in, or 0 if nothing is lost.

Confirm before you book

A short confirmation of the product, size and total cuts returns before the parcel leaves.

Questions merchants ask

Is this calculator free?

Yes. Use it as often as you like, with no sign-up.

Are my figures sent anywhere?

No. The sums are done in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or saved.

What counts as the cost of one return?

The delivery charge paid to send the parcel, the return charge paid to bring it back, and any product or packing that is lost or damaged.

Why is the advance the delivery charge plus the return charge?

Those are the two courier charges a refused parcel can cost you. If your courier charges nothing for a return, put 0, and the advance is the delivery charge alone.

Where do I find my courier’s charges?

On your courier’s own rate card or invoices. The delivery charge calculator on this site shows typical published rates.
